Green Marketing and Sustainability Communication

The growing demand for environmental and social communication creates a need for credible, transparent and verifiable sustainability claims. At the same time, organisations must navigate an evolving regulatory framework and avoid greenwashing. The project belongs to the communication, education and sustainable business sectors and addresses the challenge of developing professional skills for communicating environmental and social commitments accurately and effectively.

Life-Cycle Thinking
The Green Marketing and Sustainability Communication Course provides training on sustainability communication, the evolving regulatory framework, Life Cycle Thinking and circular economy principles. Rather than treating sustainability as a purely promotional topic, the course focuses on the evidence and systemic perspective needed to build credible communication strategies. Its programme combines online sessions with experts, case studies, masterclasses and a two-day practical workshop in Rome. The circularity dimension is addressed through Life Cycle Thinking and the principles of the circular economy, helping participants understand environmental impacts across value chains and communicate them without reducing sustainability to isolated claims. The course combines sustainability communication with regulatory, life-cycle and circular economy perspectives. Its distinctive feature is the combination of technical expertise with EconomiaCircolare.com’s role as a journalism platform and observatory on greenwashing and evolving environmental regulation. Participants therefore engage not only with experts and researchers, but also with journalists who follow, investigate and explain these issues on a daily basis. Now in its fourth edition, the course combines expert-led training, case studies, masterclasses and practical work, supported by the patronage of ISIA Roma Design and Accredia – The Italian Accreditation Body
Now in its fourth edition, the course has involved approximately 60 participants and delivered 158 hours of theoretical and practical training across four editions. Its impact is primarily related to capacity building, combining the expertise of professionals from communication, sustainability, regulation, research and business. The programme has evolved through participant feedback, with new practical modules and activities introduced in subsequent editions. Training includes expert-led sessions, case studies, masterclasses, practical labs and a two-day workshop, involving professionals, companies and institutions from across the sustainability sector.
