The Circular Economy in the Digital Age:
A Multimedia Perspective on the System

The circular transition involves interconnected systems – from resource use and technology to policy, business and waste – but these dimensions are often communicated separately. The project responds to the need for a more systemic understanding of circularity through accessible multimedia information. It belongs to the communication, information and education sector, with a focus on the circular economy and the environmental transition.

EconomiaCircolare.com translates its editorial work into audiovisual and social media content, transforming articles, research and analysis into stories told through voices, faces and different media formats. The project connects research, business, policy and everyday life, making relationships between different parts of the circular system visible. Its circularity lies primarily in knowledge sharing and in the reuse and adaptation of editorial content across multimedia formats and channels. By addressing prevention, reuse, repair, resource efficiency and waste management as interconnected issues, the project supports the upper levels of the waste hierarchy through information and awareness. The project combines journalistic content with a systemic approach to circularity. Rather than focusing on a single sector, technology or waste stream, it brings together perspectives from research, business, policy and everyday life. Its multimedia approach also allows the same editorial knowledge to be transformed into different formats, making connections between otherwise separate narratives more visible and accessible.
The project reaches a broad audience through a multi-channel digital ecosystem. Each month, EconomiaCircolare.com records approximately 820,000 website views and 41,000 unique users, while its social channels generate around 800,000 views on Meta alone. LinkedIn reaches approximately 37,200 users and generates around 1 5,000 interactions per month, while Instagram and Facebook have approximately 30,000 and 11,500 followers respectively.
